Paper star lights are basically traditional Diwali lights that are being used to decorate Indian homes during this festival. Diwali is also popularly known as "Festival of Lights". The word Diwali comes from the word Deepawali.
Diwali is a time when every home is illuminated with "Deeps" - (oil lamps) and every heart is filled with joy. Lamp or Deep is the symbol of knowledge. Lighting the lamp of knowledge is to understand and reflect upon the significant purpose of life and to bring those thoughts in to our day to day lives. Diwali was the day when thousands of years ago Lord Ram returned to Ayodhya having defeated Ravan. The people of Ayodhya celebrated his home coming by lighting lamps all over the city and by decorating their streets and houses. |

It is now an important ritual to light lamps in and around house. This is not a mere tradition. Fire represents energy. As Diwali night is moonless, lighting of lamps signifies dispelling darkness. It also signifies that no matter how difficult how difficult any problem that one faces in life, through the light of the soul one could find way through the darkest of times. |
